Your search for the perfect travel bag may be over.
My mobile office space (a necessity following a recent house fire) is now cleanly contained in the latest release from Eagle Creek. The Velocity Series stands upright without being uptight. It’s spacious without being bulky. It’s branded without being obviously “Eagle Creeky” as my other E.C. campy bags have been.
Overall Ratings (this is pre-air trip, but it’s seen two weeks of city wear thus far. I bought the matching carry-on. I’ll take it to blogHer in two weeks so watch out, Chicago!)
Ratings (Out of 5):
Exterior: 4
Pros: Black. Dirt resistant. Contours. Handles. Fits over shoulder.
Cons: Tote-style. Tiny bit grannyish. Grey handles.
Interior: 5
Pros: Amazing divisions. Grey, so you can see your things. Intuitive compartments. Fits a 13″ MacBook. Lightly padded.
Cons: Spaciousness tempts you to dump all you own into it.
Mobility: 4
Pros: Well balanced weight-distribution. Travels anywhere with class.
Cons: No wheels. Leans forward a bit, but doesn’t fall over. Pisa-style.
Travel-friendliness: 4.5
Pros: Low-key. Doesn’t scream “steal me!” Soft-grippy handles. Fits in an overhead bin or under the seat. All pockets and internal divisions actually useful! Love the detachable, see-through make-up bag.
Cons: The magic little Eagle Creek thing on the front almost got ripped off the other day when it caught on a chair.
Overall: 17.5/20
A lovely, modular, travel-friendly set. Maximizes every inch when space in economy class shrinks each time you breathe. So, seriously…you have a choice. Stop breathing or buy this bag.
The damage: At $120, this bag is a steal. Sure, you could buy a leather one for nearly that much, but then it’d get stolen the moment you step off the plane in (city name omitted to give every place a fighting chance), but you don’t mind getting mugged, right?
Seriously, in terms of having a gorgeous, spacious, matching set, I don’t think you can go wrong with Eagle Creek’s new Velocity Series.
And no, I don’t work for them. And no, I won’t make a commission if you buy a piece.
But if you want to send me some commission money, let me know and I’ll get you that Paypal account info.
